When I got home, I placed all the pieces on the floor, followed the instruction manual and finished assembling my new beautiful and comfortable chair in just 45 minutes!
The Chiavari chair is named after the coastal Italian town of Chiavari (pronounced shi-VAR-ee), from which this stunning chair originated. Chiavari is within the Province of Genoa, in the region of Liguria. Situated near the Entella River it is surrounded by mountains except on the southwest, where it meets the Mediterranean Sea. A beautiful setting from which to visualize this chairs history. Since the year 1200, Chiavari, Italy, was known for the production of elaborately hand carved furniture. Quite the history.
The process of human blood circulation was first discovered by an Arabian doctor, named Ibn al-Nafis. He noticed that it is the heart that is the core of our circulatory system. The heart is a pump that pushes blood to the lungs to get oxygen, and then pushes it through the body. After the oxygen in the blood has been used, it is pushed back to the heart where the cycle begins again. We have a closed circulatory system which means that the blood is contained in small tubes called vessels. Under normal conditions our blood does not leave the vessels.
